What to Bring

Packing up for move-in day? The following list includes everything you need to connect to RezNet when you move-in to your residence room.

A Computer, Tablet, or Smart Phone

Almost any computer can connect to RezNet. To ensure you have the best experience in the campus technical environment, we recommend that your device meets these recommended minimum specifications:

Processor Intel Core i3/i5 or AMD equivalent (PC or Mac)
Memory (RAM) 6GB
Operating System Windows 7 or OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or higher

If you have any questions about your computer's specifications, please contact the RezNet Hotline at (519)-661-4225 or email us at

Anti-virus software

To protect the health of our network, all computers must arrive in residence with up-to-date anti-virus software installed and configured to update automatically on a daily basis.

The Campus Computer Store (located in the basement of the University Community Centre offers student pricing on anti-virus software for both Windows and Macintosh computers.

An Ethernet cable

RezNet offers two ways to connect to the internet in residence. In order to take advantage of our high-speed wired service, you will need an Ethernet cable. A 15ft Ethernet cable is sufficient.

If your computer does not have an Ethernet port, you will also need to bring a USB Ethernet adapter. Newer devices may require a USB-C ethernet adapter.

A USB printer cable

Wireless printers broadcast signals which interfere with RezNet's wireless service. By turning off the wireless broadcasting on your printer, and using a USB printer cable you can ensure that you and your fellow residents can take full advantage of the wireless internet being provided to in your residence building.

What NOT to bring

Wireless Routers

Personal wireless routers will interfere with the wireless internet being provided to your fellow residents. If you have a specific need for a personal router, please call the RezNet Hotline at 519-661-4225 so that we can explore potential solutions.
